Actually my power went out a few times, once while I was here that I know of. Was sitting here and everything went POOF and shut off, including one of my monitors. Thought my computer had blown up til my UPS beeped at me. ~hugs it~ I love you UPS. Suckiest thing is my internet/modem is not connected to it, so when the power came back on a few moments later I had to wait for it to reconnect. This made me sad.

UPS is the best thing one can invest in, ever. It saved me a lot during the most recent hurricane.

Well you should tell the guys at HAARP to stop kicking the Gulf of Mexico. Then you won't have you such bad storms.

Does anyone here use custom firmware for Android devices? I started using the CyanogenMOD 10 developer nightly releases last night and ERMAHGERD its so much nicer than stock Sammy roms.

Don't you have to root your phone for that? I got the Galaxy S3 and everything I want needs to have my phone root'd....

You do, yes. However, gaining root access for Samsung handsets is *much* easier than other manufacturers (like HTC) because of their support for custom kernels and community developed firmware.

The whole process for gaining root accesss, flashing the custom kernel and CyanogenMOD 10 too approximately an hour in total (took a bit longer due to having to fix the soft brick caused by the retarded guide leaving out a few vital steps).

Would CyanogenMOD improve performance? I've got a Galaxy S1 and god damn its slow at times.

Typically, most custom firmware improves the overall performance of the devices. I have seen a definite improvement to my Galaxy S2, but I can't speak for the S1.

    * because they remove the bloatware and apps that aren't needed, plus throw in their own code optimizations.
