I think it's because it'd be too hard to try and sort out the pirated copies from the offer.

That being said, i'm iffy on about Windows 10, since i hate 8 and from what i can see it's more like 8 than 7.

I think it's a mix between Windows 7 and their Metro UI elements which I don't mind, with the exception that is the Windows 8/8.1 Start Menu (seriously, fuck the tiles).

Hey, the tiles have grown on me. 8.1 returned the Desktop to be the primary screen, so when you boot to windows you aren't thrown immediately to the Start screen.

The tiles can be handy if you use them properly. Out of the box, it's rubbish. But once you organise them you learn to like them, but still I do miss my traditional start menu.

It took me a good month or so before I really put the effort into learning Windows 8.1 properly, and for any aspiring support engineers out there, you really want to know the newest stuff inside and out. I remember prior to using Windows 8, I'd get thrown a question like where do I do this, or I used to be able to do that, how do I... without using it as my primary OS for the last year or so those questions used to stump me.

Whatever you think you don't like about it, have you actually given it a go? Or have you done what I did initially, and what all my colleagues and friends have done, and given up after the first confrontation with the start tiles?

I've used it enough on @PyroClysm's notebook and via the support jobs I do at work, so I'm still exposed to it on a regular basis -- but strictly speaking, I haven't "given it a go" as a daily driver on my desktop.

windows 10 is cool. I've run a virtual box with the tech demo. Obviously to process of going from 7 to 10 will be more difficult, but 8 to 10 should be a breeze. It is the bastard child of windows 7 and windows 8. it has a start menu reminiscent of the windows 8 start screen.

I'm kinda looking forward to 10. Even if there are UI elements I don't like they'll be modded out within a week
